Lyric Soprano

Christine Robinson

A Voice Rooted in Artistry

Christine grew up in Cranbrook, British Columbia where her love of performing first began. She actively pursued any musical opportunity she could find including performing with multiple choirs, bands, musical productions, and even a marching band.

Once she discovered classical singing, however, she knew she had found her lifelong passion. Christine went on to complete her Bachelor of Music in opera performance from UBC Vancouver and has been performing ever since. She has also worked as a rehearsal assistant with the Vancouver Bach Children's Chorus, and provided private voice lessons throughout Metro Vancouver.

Performance highlights include the titular character Maria in Maria Chapdelaine (Jim Leonard) with the Vernon Proms, Lily in The Secret Garden with Soundstage Productions, Betty Parish in The Crucible with UBC Opera, Second Lady in Rusulka with Burnaby Lyric Opera, and chorus roles in Rusulka, Cosi fan tutte, and more. Additionally, she has collaborated with the UBC Opera Ensemble alongside the VSO, and has served as a soloist with Musaic Vocal Ensemble. She regularly performs with Opera Kelowna in the Sidewalk Serenades program.

Currently, she is active in several local and regional choirs including Candesca (Kelowna) and the Naramata Community Choir, and she takes part in recitals and provides performances in long-term care facilities across the region.

Artistic Philosophy

Music lives in the quiet spaces between notes, like wild garden blossoms finding room to breathe.

My commitment is to the authentic expression of each composer's intent, fostering a deep connection with the audience. I believe in the power of acoustic clarity and intimate performance to reveal the profound beauty of classical works.

Foundation

Classical Discipline, Masterful Guidance

Christine's early vocal technique was honed by the singular Sophia Gamache, preparing her for the UBC School of Music and Opera Ensemble where she studied under the tutelage of Marisa Gaetanne and Nancy Hermiston.

She currently trains under Alexandra Babbel in Kelowna, BC. Her rigorous training has instilled a profound respect for classical discipline and vocal health, forming the bedrock of her artistry.
